My baby cousin got married!!!

My auntie Marie was always the one I wrote letters to as a child. She was also the one, who wrote letters back to me. It was always her house we all gathered at. It was the most fun at her house. You just wanted to put on your jammies and hang out there forever. She is my dads little sister, and of course a favorite Auntie! (don't worry all my other Aunties, you are all my favorites too!!!)

Auntie Marie and Uncle Mark have three daughters. Michelle, Melanie and Megan. Not only are they all "M" names, but they are all silly gorgeous. I couldn't imagine not being a part of our little cousin Megan's wedding day at Olympic View Golf Course in Victoria. I knew she would be beautiful, but I had no idea she would be smoking hot too! It was a gorgeous wedding full of amazing people and glorious light. Meg and Troy, sometimes you just know that two people are supposed to be together... we all just know, that you two are forever.

Thank you so much for including me in your wonderful wedding! Sisters (or in our family, better known as 'seesters' watching their baby sister get all dolled up. Loving looks from the mothers of the groom and bride. I love love love the way these girls love their dad! Look at the pure love here. My beautiful cousins Auntie Marie looking lovingly at her little girl. It struck me here, that her little baby girl, was once... just as small as my baby girl. Unreal! I absolutely love this moment. No one around, but them. There is all sorts of unspoken in this image. I love this one. and this one. I love everything about this image. I love this peekaboo moment between father and daughter.

Quiet Simplicity

Simply stunning. The most beautifully simplistic wedding, ever.

Set at the Filberg grounds, we were tucked away in the Comox Valley at 6pm on a September friday night. No people, no one but us. Deer quietly grazing the grass. A light mist occasionally drizzling from the sky. A groom waiting for his bride at the end of a grape vine arbor.

The place silent, but swollen with the memories of a summer full of sounds. Festivals, celebrations, music, laughter and children playing are usually heard on the grounds. Friday night, quiet. Simple.

Cathy walked out by herself, down through the arbor and was met by David's warm gaze. Together they said their vows to only each other. It meant something. It was truly heart felt and terribly romantic. It was exactly as they wanted it. I felt honored to be a part of something so intimate and meaningful.

We were only together an hour in total. But, I love what images we created in that time. Sometimes, less truly is more. Look at them! Gorgeous!

Shevaun and Rod

She grew up climbing the rocky shores of her backyard on Quadra Island. He grew up on completely different shores in the UK. Their worlds destined to collide. Look at them together, from worlds apart, smiling and radiant. It truly amazes me that two people from completely different countries and backgrounds can end up together. Each have their own unique story, childhood, lives that just seems to lead directly to each other. In some kind of twisty turny way, they wound up together. It truly is a beautiful thing. Clearly they were led in the right direction. Look at their faces. They didn't stop smiling the entire day, and that, is perfection. May your lives be full of the spirited sense of adventure and happiness that brought you together.

Michelle and Jeff

I have few words lately, but I have a feeling that will change with the weather. Blue skies and sunshine always lead me astray from the computer. Not to mention a nearly five month old little girl who I can't stop kissing. I have come to the conclusion that my blog will be here. The same as when I left it last, but my little girl just keeps changing! Her little cheeks the perfect size for kissing. She is so snuggly right now, so perfect... its hard to stay away! That, and I always have more words in the fall. When the leaves change, when the dew returns to the grass in the morning. When the rain falls. I'll see you then.

For now, images of a couple so clearly in love... its contagious. I mean, I photograph weddings. I see love. All the time. I see a lot of love pass between a bride and groom on their wedding day. Not often, but at times you can see a bride be so caught up in the 'wedding' that they aren't even paying attention to the reason they are getting married. I've never been married, never had a wedding. But I know love. I know what it feels like to be loved and in love. For that, I feel lucky. There is nothing more inspiring on a wedding day than seeing a bride and groom so clearly into each other, that they barely notice you are there. I love that, like for real.

At one point in Michelle and Jeff's wedding I said, "just ignore me" as I was changing settings on my camera, when I looked up to see if they had heard me... they hadn't, they were already ignoring me.

I have no idea what kind of bride I would ever be, but I do know what I'd hope to be like. Totally and completely into each other is a pretty good start! Michelle and Jeff and your beautiful little boy... inspiring!

A Cortes Island Experience

I have a ton of images and posts lined up, but will start with this gorgeous little family. Natalie and Mike along with their beautiful twins, celebrate their love with a beautiful ceremony on Cortes Island. I love exploring new places, seeing new faces and seeing a mother and fathers love spilling out with emotion for their little creations. Its a magical thing. Stay tuned for more.
