Steph and Steve-Tofino wedding

A winter wedding in Tofino.  I realize that it is necessary for me to keep this journal more present. The images that should be appearing here, should reflect the work that I am doing currently.  Steph and Steve were married with an intimate, relaxed beach wedding in Tofino, BC.  Exactly my kind of soulful, joyous, laid back, beautiful day and people.  Laughing when the ocean attempts to swallow up your dress, freezing on the beach during your January ceremony?  No worries, there is a Hudson Bay blanket to warm you up.  Rinsing your sand filled dress in the shower and popping in the dryer to get it back to wear worthy shape, before your reception. MY. KIND. OF. PEOPLE.  Thank you Steph and Steve for trusting and choosing me. ox

Laura and Mark

Photos don't just magically make themselves. They are a reflection (hopefully a beautiful one) of the people in them. Their story, makes their images what they are. These images are happy and fun, because Laura and Mark are awesome. Laura was most excited to hear Marks vows. The ceremony was all written by them. Which is why, it was excellent. There was hugging, hysterical laughter, passing around of rings, a young fella that decided a worm needed to be brought to the forefront of the ceremony... they just rolled with it all. Mark was most looking forward to 'everything'. She describes him as the most 'personable' man you could ever meet. I would have to agree. In the first second I saw him, I knew he was great. Together, they are just so effortless. Sweet. Honest. All things you'd want to see when photographing a wedding. She said yes to a beautiful ring that Mark picked out to surprise her with, however... she would have said yes to a twist tie. True love. As cliche as it sounds, it really does make for the most beautiful images.

Laura is also a bit of a DIY queen. Handmade boutoneirs, decor, hooray/yay signs for guests, monster card boxes... the works. All made for a perfectly delightful backyard Campbell River wedding. The rain was light and brief, the bathtub of beer was full, and everyone there had a huge smile on their face. My face was actually sore after the ceremony from my (likely weird looking) perma smile. And, while we're on me looking weird... to all of the wedding guests who may or may not of seen me fumbling with my blouse (popped a button), tripping over myself, and covered in dirt and grass stains and marveling over bear dung, I assure you, none of the following images were possible without my awkward craziness err... quirkiness. Promise, its just all part of my artistic process.

Jacquie and Pat

Jacquies father spoke about having moments in his life "flashes" that he would always remember. Rocking his baby girl, sun streaming in at a 45 degree angle, walking her down the isle, blue skies set above the people who love them dearly. I believe that those moments are treasures. This wedding was full of treasures. Not only the perfect Jimmy Choo sparkly shoes, or the Tiffany's necklaces, but treasures that have true and profound value. Their August 6 wedding was incredibly meant to be. Everything was beautiful, memorable and infused with love.

They waited 12 years to get married, and they arrived at their wedding full of stories, full of life and swimming with love. There is so much you could say about Jacquie and Pat, but I feel the looks on the faces of those they love and cherish most... say it best. They are loved.

Jacquie is described as being an amazing healer, working as a nurse with children who need her. Pat can make even the most stern face... burst into laughter. I think everyone who was a part of their wedding, and is a part of their lives, know how valuable and emotional their wedding memories are, and will be forever. A true testament to living life presently, in each moment and savoring every delicate, fleeting instant as it happens. When you live with intention and love, your moments will all be treasures.

May you both be surrounded by life's blessings always, and may the universe wrap it's expansive and warm arms around you always, but especially right now. I am forever humbled and honored to have been a part of something so beautiful. In loving memory of June Hole. In Jacquie's words... "She was an incredible woman. She would do anything and give anything to anyone. Her spirit is unmatched. " Savor each fleeting moment.

Robyn, Lukas and Adelyn

This was one of those wedding, that I knew... without a doubt would be perfect.

Lukas is the most organized self proclaimed groom-zilla I've ever encountered. Definitely not in a negative way, but in a hilarious, obsessive list writing, detail focused sort of way. Note: matching his tie to his baby girls dress. Not only adorable, but rather endearing don't you think? In any case, their wedding was sunny, and bright, and full of love, and smiles, and laughter. The whole experience was exactly as I had suspected, perfect.

Robyn and Lukas chose to have their photos with their wedding party and their 'not so formal' portraits done pre ceremony, which I really love. I think it allows everyone to look fresh and flawless for the photos, and then continue on their wedding day to pay all of their attention to their ceremony, their guests and their reception. I'm pretty sure the guests appreciate it too!

In any case, here are the fabulous Robyn, Lukas and their show stopping-ly (fully aware that is not a word, but it's my blog I'll do as I like) adorable little girl Adelyn. Congratulations you guys!!! The pleasure was truly all mine!!! Just brace yourself for the cuteness Yes, that was cute... but feast your eyes on the next few images... HOW CUTE IS SHE? I really love this photo. And I'll leave you with one of sleeping beauty back at the reception.
