I love photographing families. I also love photographing families outside in Campbell River, and everywhere on Vancouver Island. There are endless possibilities.
I love getting to know their personalities and how they all connect with each other. It also snaps me into realizing that one day, I will likely be just like each and every mom I photograph. Standing back and smiling at her children. Knowing that indescribable love that comes along with raising people. Looking at the face of your daughter who has grown up, is growing up… remembering them as baby’s, infants… toddlers. I refer to it often, but one of my favorite quotes from a beautiful client a few years ago sticks with me still. As a parent “we all just wish for a little more time.”
Such a beautiful family. Full of laughter and quirks and outfit changes in the field in the chilly December air.
It truly was, my pleasure.
Maternity sessions rank pretty high with me. I love them.
Lately, I’ve been really loving sessions in my lovely clients homes. So personal, so comfortable and the potential for unique images is inspiring.
I also love pregnancy craving stories. Like really love them. One friend kept sponges in her pocket, another scratched soap obsessively, another sampled dirt, I ate thousands of oranges and Tiffany can’t get enough grapefruits. Like, drools when she thinks of them. I love it. So naturally, we had to have a few of her favorite fruits with us for their adorable session. Little Hudson and I couldn’t get enough of the “night time”… “morning” pretend sleeping game, and their session couldn’t possibly have been any more awesome.
Tiffany is also an amazing dietician with an essential healthy food blog, where she wrote this about our session “I owe her a huge thank you for letting me step out of the daily slog of late pregnancy and see it through her eyes and for what it really is…a big, beautiful miracle.” Amen sister. It really is a big, beautiful miracle, and I’m so excited to be able to be a part of your journey as a family. I cherish our sessions.
I am beyond thrilled to meet their new little man.

(just a side note… whenever you see BOLD print on my blog there is always a link to something awesome, by clicking on the bold print!)
She wanted images that captured the good stuff. The real stuff. No dressing up and posing. Just her beautiful, quirky, unique, loving family making a pancake breakfast.
I.WAS.THRILLED. Nothing better to me, than a family… doing what they love to do, and something as natural as curling up to sleep each night.
Everyone with their usual roles. Clarke cracking the eggs. Libby cutting the bananas (and sampling the batter) Celeste making the icing, Garrett peeling apples (perfectly) and assisting me withe the artistic direction, Riley manning the griddle and mom (creative soul and master planner at Dolphins Resort) and dad (culinary genius and head chef at Dolphins Resort) offering loving hands and sweet and funny words along the way. The breakfast was delicious, the company divine and the home oozing the warmth and love. The kind of love that can only be created with a wise, passionate and vibrant family.
Blessed.
Thank you for choosing me. xo
One of my favorite things is when a fabulous woman approaches me and says. “I have an idea”. It just about immediately makes my day.
When D’Arcy let me know a few of her ideas for a shoot with her girls. I was instantly on board.
She said she loves her girls in the morning, all snuggly and cute. We thought we’d make a studio shoot into a big comfy white bed, and let the girls play.
So much fun and I love our results. Such beautiful girls and such a great way to keep me on my toes.
I’ve been dying to share, and just haven’t found the time.
Meet Ella and Molly.
2011 ending.
Reflections flicker past closing eyelids as the lights go out.
Remembering all that has passed. Dogs barking, babies laughing, crying… learning to talk. Rain falling, Adele playing, images from various photo shoots floating by. Glimpses of moments all tied up in a year. Furniture rearranged, wine bottled, wood stove burning, wild pup finally sleeping.
Reflections from a full year.
New ideas, old ideas, photos printed, canvases hung. Toys organized, baby clothes boxed and tucked away, taking a good look at my self. Examining weakness, looking at strengths, deciding what to do with both. Wrapping up 2011 into a neat little package is nearly impossible. In my own quiet way I am busy coming to peace with mistakes and victories of 2011. I am wrapping it all up… inside first. There will be more to share… later.
For now… may you reflect gently on your 2011 and look at creating a more beautiful 2012.
Anything is possible.
May all your wishes come true.

“Dance Me To The End Of Love”
Leonard Cohen

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic ’til I’m gathered safely in
Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Oh let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone
Let me feel you moving like they do in Babylon
Show me slowly what I only know the limits of
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the wedding now, dance me on and on
Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long
We’re both of us beneath our love, we’re both of us above
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the children who are asking to be born
Dance me through the curtains that our kisses have outworn
Raise a tent of shelter now, though every thread is torn
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic till I’m gathered safely in
Touch me with your naked hand or touch me with your glove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
