Tara and Steve

stormy times
How amazing it was, that the rain stopped for our session last Friday.

Lately it appears that the majority of my clients have had to do a lot more re-scheduling than shooting due to adverse weather conditions. But I promise, when all of the elements align, the sessions, will be perfect. Sometimes it takes a few times to get it all together, but it is always worth the wait. Promise.

Tara and Steve, you are wonderful.

Sweet Ride and Soft Love

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

On a night like last night, in Campbell River two lovers pulled into a parking lot full of rich orange light, a still calm sky, and a silky smooth sea.

They were sweet, kind and immediately easy to love. Together with their awesome truck, they reminded me of so many movie scenes, and Melissa looked to me like she just stepped out of an amazing Renaissance painting.

They have an effortless, quiet and sweet love. Not to mention their amazing ability to ooze romance just by being close to each other. Which makes my job, absolutely exciting.

Have a peek at Melissa, Dave and the magic of living in a place as beautiful as Campbell River.
(p.s… I can barely wait for their wedding.. and to see the next sweet ride that they are unveiling at the wedding, stay tuned)

Your Love

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Warning: This post is not for the ‘I hate love’ or ‘love sucks’ among us. Kindly close the tab now, as I may gross you out with love talk here….

Maybe it was the spectacular conversation with an amazing friend that I haven’t spoken with in forever. Maybe its that I haven’t seen my fella in over a week (when we’ve never gone more than a day apart in almost 2 years). Maybe its that my soul is watery and weepy and more porous than a sponge. Possibly the country music on repeat, or maybe something about Rebecca and Steve’s love for each other rubbed off on me yesterday.

Whatever it is, wherever it came from… these images make me wanna throw my arms around my gorgeous man and squeeze him forever. Yes, I’m throwing my self right out to the wolves today. Rarely do I bare this much of my heart, especially online. But today, for lack of proper self control, here you have it.

What does your love look like? How do you love? If I were to turn my camera on you, how would I see you? From the moment Rebecca and Steve were in front of me… they were just more complete together. Laughed more when they were closer. Loved freely. At times, I felt like I was truly intruding on their intimate moments. What is so beautiful about love, is how thick, how visible it can really be. It would appear, through my lens… that love actually changes the molecules in the air. Changes the vibrations in the atmosphere, in the room. When you are at a wedding, watching someone say those vows, do you not just want to hug your sweetie, and love them more.

How lucky it is to have someone who you feel so completely loved with. How incredible it is to share this journey with someone. Regardless of what that journey may be, or how many times along the way you want to stomp your feet, throw in the towel and storm off. It sure feels nice, in the middle of the tantrum to turn around and see that someone is still, despite all of your weaknesses, still standing there not giving up on you.

If the bitter among you, are scrunching your noses and gagging… I was you not very long ago, and very well may be you again one day. But that doesn’t mean that I’m not going to strip all my baggage away off of my heart and try to love completely today. I’d rather live fully. Love more. Which will always give you more to loose, but I really do believe, it’s worth it.

Meet Rebecca, Steve and their love.

This absolutely makes me want to hold onto my own fella

Jessica and Roger

What a better way to start off Monday morning, than a few images from Jessica and Rogers amazing engagement session.

Immediately, I loved them! Up for anything, and completely happy to let my creative mind go wild and free for some not so conventional portraits. I love when my couples are able to stretch themselves for something different, fresh and wonderful!

This session has gotten me incredibly excited for a whole lot of Vancouver Island weddings! A note to all of my 2009 Weddings, to email me and set up your engagement session, before its too late!

Love this first shot of Jessica. So beautiful!

Their connection was amazing, and I just love this image
Love her on her tip toes

On our way to the second location… I remembered these stone tunnels, and put the brakes on, luckily they were up for anything, and look what we created!
Love the intimacy and laughter

Tina and James…

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Over the weekend, I met up with a few of my fabulous 2009 wedding clients!

Before unveiling Tina and James’ images, I need to say that I truly believe, that my clients are the best. NO, I’m serious… I feel that the people who gravitate towards my work, my passions, get me… they want the images, that my darling father would always say things like “but they have no heads” about. (nothing wrong with that dad, but I like how images make me feel, heads or no heads)

There is nothing wrong with a photo of two people standing awkwardly smiling at a camera. (Ok, of COURSE there is something wrong with this) It just truly isn’t my style, I can do it (hence Princess Cruises photographer for 6 years)… but I don’t like it, not even for a second. It makes my soul feel shriveled and dried up and crunchy. I get a few inquiries from those who may be after the stand and say cheese shots… but it usually ends up not working out. (phewf) Leaving me with clients who want me to be creative, to let me run wild with my ideas, and who even come armed with their own ideas. I encourage awesomeness. Those of you with ideas, and creativity. I find that you waltz right into my life, and then, we can create beautiful images together. Ahhhh, yup, you all are great. Thank you for letting me explore life, love and beauty through you, and through my lens.

Here along the beautiful Campbell River we created the following images…
