Carrie and Brendon have that thing… you know, that thing that you want to have in a relationship.
Brendon from Australia, Carrie from Campbell River met randomly in Vancouver. A quick meeting turned into a trip to Australia which she has never moved back from. A wedding overlooking the Sydney Opera house, and now years later back on Vancouver Island soaking up moments with family and friends. Carrie and Brendon’s energy together is contagious and I loved every moment of our Miracle Beach session here in Campbell River. Perfect.
Thank you for inviting me into your moments. You are both, gorgeous and I wish we could do it all over again! Maybe one day we will!
Safe travels back to Australia and wishing you both nothing but sunshine and blue skies in your future. xo

Selena and Trevor

Every year when the cherry blossoms start appearing around town, I’m sure that my heart will explode. I’ve had my eye on two lonely trees in a local park for a few weeks now, waiting for a sign of blossoming.

Thursday night I emailed Selena to see if she was up for cherry blossoms and to let me run wild with a few ideas, for our session Friday morning. I love when everything just melts together seamlessly. Our session, the light, the beautiful spring morning and the colors. I bring to you beautiful Selena and her handsome fella Trevor. Trevor was fabulous and I have to admit… one of my favorite images was a result of Trevor giving me some artistic direction during the shoot. We made fun of him at the time… but, I dare say… he was right!

I am ecstatic for your wedding in September!

Right, we’ve been over that my 2011 couples are amazing.
But, lets go over it again. I love them. I am lucky.

Kaleena had an idea of what they wanted for locations, and let me run wild with my ideas. I love what we came up with, and them!

I couldn’t help it.
I’m out in my studio, working away and I come across these three images from 2010. Un-shared. Not blogged. In fact I came across a whole world of images not shared. I am trying to not be crazy and spend every waking second blogging everything I haven’t. I’m not going to, but I have vowed that whenever possible, I’ll go back a bit and share even just a few. There is not one session that I don’t want to share, always. It’s just… time. You know. Time.

It was snowy-ish. Cold, and I had just finished shooting 100 kids with bunnies. Something told me that shooting anyways would pay off. I love that it was almost cancelled. Love the colors, the tones, the feelings. Love everything about it, even the chilly wind blowing Karlas hair around perfectly. Not all photoshoots are best in the sun. It always amazes me how each and every outdoor session takes on a life of its own. Plan away, but it will always be exactly as it’s supposed to be. But, if you are open to anything… you will often end up with your own brand of awesome. Love it!!!

I loved our session and can’t wait to photograph their wedding this summer! As if Karla won’t be a stunning bride. Awesome.

I just need to say something… My 2011 WEDDINGS ROCK!!!

I loved her from the first email. Sweet, charismatic and outgoing. Awesome.
Jacquie and Pat are warm, fun, engaging and they just make you want to be around them, not to mention both totally gorgeous.
You two make my job so easy!
Being together twelve years has created an amazingly effortless connection between the two of them. You take one look at them and instantly think….of course they are together. They should be together. They are so natural, so comfortable. A beautiful thing.
Now you love them too, don’t you. I can’t wait to photograph their Pacific Shores wedding this summer. Admit it, you can’t wait either.

A Real Engagement Session

The day before the session Jeff nonchalantly says something like “Oh, and I’m going to propose during our maternity session, do you think that’s ok?”
HUH? Do I think that’s ok? NO, I think thats incredible. He said “we might need to plan it, she might cry”.
I said “She might cry? She’s pregnant. For sure she is going to cry!!”
A beautiful moment, at an amazing and exciting time in life. I am honored to have been chosen to capture it all.

Sunshine

Bryce’s mom always told him to “surround yourself with good people”.
I can’t say that I disagree.

We are so lucky to have such wonderful, kind, loving people in our lives. We are truly surrounded with good people. Big hearts go a long way with us. I’m all about the big hearts.

Shannon has a heart that is truly unparalleled. She is a gem. Bryce, Maisie, Frank and I are better with her in our lives. We smile more, laugh more, and certainly love more. Shannon works with me. Creates magic with me. Dreams up wild ideas with me. Inspires me. She picks me up 9+ months pregnant (when I was miles from laughter) and brings sunshine. We chase rainbows, wild skies and speak in a language all of our own. She turns everything into art. Her presence in our life, is a true masterpiece.

In the rain, the pouring rain… we don’t even need the sun to show up, as Shannon brings it with her.

To celebrate life and love, we ventured out in the pouring rain to photograph her world. Of course, the sun came with her. She brought it out of the clouds. Congrats to you and Ryan on your recent engagement. We love you guys more than words, and are so very excited to join in on every adventure along the way. May we all grow old together (well… not in the same house, but close). xoox
